Who We Are

The AF Foundation is a nonprofit organization providing scholarships to high school seniors in Shelby County, Kentucky. We provide financial assistance to high school seniors pursuing higher education based on academics, outside achievements, but most importantly, their passion for helping their community and loving others. We currently provide over $10,000 a year in financial assistance, including scholarships for those entering the military after graduation.

Our message of “Love Big” is a call to action for students and communities to come together and provide love and support to people of all backgrounds and walks of life. Our scholarship winners demonstrate how they have personally changed the lives of others or worked to make a lasting impact within their community. They also illustrate how they will continue to serve others in the future.

Why We're Here

The AF Foundation was founded in 2022 by the friends and family members of Avery Farmer, a high school senior who died in a tragic car accident in February, 2021. Avery had a zest for life and a love for all people. He wanted everyone to know they had purpose and a place in this world. In our first year, The AF Foundation awarded one $5,000 scholarship to a senior at Martha Layne Collins High School in Shelbyville, Kentucky. We have since expanded our program to include Shelby County High School as well as two military scholarships.

“To our community Avery was more than just another student, he connected the lost, forgotten, outcast, popular, cool kids, losers, those in need, those in crisis. He impacted everyone he crossed paths with. "
